Asus was the first company to mass produce netbooks. Their first netbook was the ASUS Eee PC. Netbooks, as everyone already knows, are a simpler version of laptops. They are ideal for surfing the web. Their storage space is smaller, along with the actual size of the netbook. They also tend to be much lighter than laptops and a lot cheaper too.
These products are great for educational purposes. They can easily be taken to class since they are so light. Netbooks also work great for children. They're cheaper, so if the child breaks it, there wouldn't be as much damage. Also, since it is smaller it is more fit for children. For this reason, Disney has invested in creating their own netbooks.
Through Asus' mass production of netbooks, other companies began to produce netbooks too. Acer is another company that caught the trend early and became a major producer of netbook too. Many people began to purchase netbooks when they first came out because as useful as laptops are, they are heavy to carry around. Netbooks were a good alternative to laptops. Also, although smartphones are widely bought now, netbooks are still favorable because smartphone keyboards and screens are too tiny.
Companies are adding more features to their netbooks such as mobile broadbands, more usb ports, etc. This will keep consumers buying netbooks.
