OnStar is expected to match their rival, the Ford's Sync music and information service, with new upgrades which includes updating Facebook status', and even apps such as Trapstar, which helps detect police in your area. General Motors, the producers of OnStar, say that the will be "free services hooking into Facebook with a OnStar subscription; the current subscription provides accident alerts, directions, vehicle diagnostics, and roadside assistance. This new upgrade, will use a voice-to-text feature to not only, update their Facebook status' but also listen to their most recent "newsfeeds".

This innovative upgrade is only the first step towards a grand realm of possibilities. Some speculate that OnStar may start to offer entertainment and information services directly to user's smartphones. OnStar currently have applications that monitor gas and control the vehicle's locks and horns. At the moment there are more than thirty vehicles with the OnStar option.
